This was the first run organised by Rita and Adrian.
It was very well attended with 18 cars and 37 people. We all met
at HQ otherwise known as the Gala Club. Some stalwarts were even
there 15 minutes early. They had obviously heard that there was
going to
be a Barbecue organised at the pub. We started the runners off at
7:00pm, the others followed and the last one left at 7:30pm. They
didn't know that there were a few surprises in store for them. The
route took them through several pretty little villages such as Witcombe,
Miserden, Sapperton, Frampton Mansell and Minchinhampton before climbing
the Toadsmoor Valley to go through Eastcombe and finally arrive at our
destination - The
Stirrup Cup in Bisley. During the route we had planned a few
places where they should cross over certain cross roads from different
directions hoping to cause confusion but not too much as wanted them to
finish the course. We then went to the pub ourselves and
waited for the first arrival. It was 25 minutes to nine before the
first car appeared with two more in quick succession. From then on
it was a steady stream. The relief was palpable. They had
managed to read our directions!
We
then settled down to a fine pint or glass on wine and headed up the
stairs toward the garden/Barbecue area. Andy had done us proud as
there was a good choice of meal together with Jacket Potatoes and
lashings of "help yourself salad". Judging by the empty plates and
all the good comments the evening was a success. The weather was
perfect, not too hot or too cold.
You never know, another run might end up here. We
could also organise a skittles evening.
Thanks to Andy and Mary the genial hosts for helping to
make it a success
