Johns Jolly Jaunt

Report on Evening Run held 22nd April 2008

This run organised by John was, according to the flyer, to be a “Jolly Jaunt for Joyful MG Jamjars”.    13 cars started, an excellent attendance for this time of the year, including a couple of MG hybrids.    With the clocks having gone forward an hour, it was thought that a 39 mile run would enable it to be held in daylight.   Oh No !!    Even with the Tulip Diagrams very accurate and well drawn (I said so)  3 cars failed to clear Gloucester and its surroundings without taking a wrong turning.  I also received three  “I’m lost, where am I ”  phone calls --- one member having decided to catch a plane at Kemble  back to the Pub.

The majority arrived safely at The Golden Heart at Nettleton Bottom having climbed three reasonably steep hills and negotiated a hair-pin bend  typical of Alpine roads.  I was concerned for the MGA, MGTF and the MGYT  with its four passengers. All seemed to clear it OK, that is if the MGYT did go that way (there are no watering holes on that part of the run !! )

All in all, I think every one enjoyed the run and the Golden Heart, a hostelry we have not used before.
