Sunday Lunch

17th February 2019

Steve and Marion Meal

Weighbridge Inn February 2019 Sunday Lunch

Despite being members of the club for twelve years, Marion and I have never got around to organising a Sunday lunch and so to correct this oversight, we volunteered to host the February event. The default menu choice of Sunday lunches during the winter is a roast and so we decided it might be a little different if we held our lunch at the Weighbridge Inn which is famous locally for producing a variety of 2in1 pies.

The Weighbridge has been serving its 2in1 pies for forty years and new landlords of the pub inherit the secret recipes resulting in consistency of a very popular dish. The pies are served with the meat of your choice at one end and cauliflower cheese at the other being served in a pottery dish. They are very filling and seem to take at least ten minutes of eating before any progress is made!

The Weighbridge did us proud by allowing us exclusive use of their beamed upstairs room which meant that all of us could relax in one another’s company. Out of the thirty-two members attending, only four elected to have a roast and the 2in1 pies were deemed a great success.

The weather was unseasonably warm for February and several members took their MG’s off the trickle chargers and out of their garages to enjoy the drive to the pub and to give a strong showing of our cars in the car park – unusual for February!

Many of the members stayed on after the meal had finished, chatting and relaxing which is always a very pleasant end to a meal. It is also sometimes a measure of how people enjoyed themselves and Marion and I hope that everyone who attended did just that.
