MG Y Type Round Britain Relay

14th June 2017

Many thanks to the members who turned out to support the MG Y Type Round Britain Relay on Wednesday. Seven cars young and old arrived in beautiful sunshine to greet Slater Reynold when he turned up spot on time in his very early MG YA carrying the baton. He can be seen in the photo handing the baton to me standing between our Y Types.

The baton is one half of the full baton as the relay goes in two directions. It started in Dartford on 3rd June, one half went north and the other came south to reach us on Wednesday.  The two halves will eventually be reunited with their stand when they arive at Kimber House the HQ of the MGCC in Abingdon on 31st July having covered 1,834 miles around the roads of Britain, each of the over 50 Y types carrying out at least one of the 37 stages.

All enjoyed the occasion and stayed around chatting in the sun for at least an hour. Slater was most impressed with the welcome and said it made the day for him.

Full details about the Relay can be found at http://www.mgccyregister.co.uk/events/round-britain-relay-summer-2017
