Gloucestershire MG Owners January Sunday Lunch

25th January 2015

It was the first Sunday lunch of the New Year and as the weather had been very mixed we did wonder whether we would have snow but fortunately it turned out to be a dry day.  I had been in touch with one of our couples who were coming from the Forest and they did wonder where the venue was and I offered to lay a paper trail but David G did inform me that he had a very good navigator in his wife Janet.

Eddy and Diana took a very scenic and long route from Gloucester as they came across various roads which were closed, they did however arrive at Haresfield in plenty of time for the meal.

As we were such a large party the owners of the Haresfield Beacon & Railway Hotel decided that the large function room/skittle alley would be more suitable for us and this was set up with 4 round tables very nicely laid up.  Although it was a little chilly to begin with we all soon warmed up once all 30 of us were seated and chatting.  We should have been 31 but unfortunately Jane was unwell and Tony came on his own.

The owners and staff were all very welcoming and efficient and we were served a lovely Sunday roast with delicious puddings!!  Tea or coffee was also included in the price but I believe one of our party was treated to a special coffee by her husband.

We were very pleased that one of our newest Member and his wife were able to join us Rob and Myn, who were seated on our Chairman’s table.

The Haresfield Beacon is an ideal place to hold a skittles match and this may happen later in the year.

Thank you to all who attended and made it a very enjoyable lunch.
