Eddy and Dianas Run

23rd September 2014

This was the last run of the season and Diana and I were worried about timings as the nights drew in. We decided to keep it fairly short and all we had to do now was to decide on a start and finish place.

The start was easy as we had heard so many rumours about what goes on Barrow Wake at Birdlip. It also had the advantage of being a spectacular viewpoint from which to start the run. All that was left was to do the research into where to finish. The number of cars parking spaces as well as the size of the restaurant meant some pubs couldnt cope. Eventually we settled for the Kings Head in Gloucester. Imagine our surprise as we were discussing our needs with the manager when in walk Brian and Teresa.

Sixteen cars were booked in and they all gathered at Barrow Wake and were ready for the off. Weather looked good it was still light. The first car away was at six, closely followed by the others. From Birdlip onto Miserden where they are now filming for "Cider with Rosie" and they have transformed the area back a hundred years.

From there onto Fostons Ash and Cranham, Through Painswick and up to the Beacon. Hopefully when the cars reached the other side they would cross with others on the run.

Soon the cars started arrving at the pub and quite a few had spotted our deliberate mistake. This was put in to see who was on their toes. Once inside the pub Tim presented me with a feather dust in Rainbow colours. It will go well with my brolly. Do the colours mean something?

Thanks to all who came. Diana and I had a great time organising and the pub did us proud. Now, where are we going to go next year?
