Richards Run

24th June 2014

12 cars met at Churcham to tour the lanes around Huntley,Tibberton, Tayntonand the lower sides of May Hill. The route then took us to Kents Green,on to Cliffords Mesne and then Aston Crews. It was a beautiful evening, with the whole trip being completed in warm sunshine. The roads were narrow with level crossings, narrow bridges and some steep hills through wooded areas where the trees formed dark overhanging tunnels..

From Aston Crews the cars were directed to Gorsley and Kilcot and back onto the main Ross to Newent road before turning off towards Kempley. Before reaching this village the route took us towards Dymock and at the edge of that village we were routed to Ketford and then to newent via Poole Hill. At Newent we headed back towards Gloucester and reached our destination at The Travellers Rest at Malswick.

This establishment in a layby turned out not to be a burger bar as Richard had told some people but a recently re-furbished pub which served a varied menu but specialised in their own style of burgers.

I think that we were all agreed that the food was excellent with several members declaring their intention to visit the Travellers Rest again. Our thanks are due to our hosts, Jeff and Judith Steers who looked after us very well. A most satisfactory evening as it also produced  a super photo for the latest caption competition.
