St Roses Wheelnuts show

27th April 2014

This year saw a reduced number of those hoping to attend the show. Within the last few days there were two late drop outs - one on the morning of the show. To any normal man it would have meant tearing his hair our in re organizing the car display. Not Trev! (Those that know him know that that would be difficult)

Trev cam up trumps with a very effective visual display of the 10 cars remaining. The next problem was the erection of the gazebo without our chairman. Its not that he's good - just tall and can reach the middle of the poles. Only joking he does help. Much to our surprise we did it without him in record time. Chairs placed, it was off to the bacon rolls purveyor.

During the day the conversation flowed with all in the gazebo. Our big highlight was doing the crossword. Well done Elsbeth for bringing it. If only we could teach Carol to share! When boredom struck it was off to try the Tombola to get the whisky which we failed to do. The closest I got was a child's plastic apple fruit shoot.

When the presentations came we waited with bated breathe to see if Trevs layout was a winner. It was to us as it looked good. Unfortunately not - no club stand prize this year. Young John Child managed to win the raffle and was presented with tickets to the Haynes motor museum

All that remained was to to take the stand down and wend our weary way home after such a long day doing nothing. It never ceases to amaze me how we all get on so well and can chat away merrily for hours despite the rain (for about 5 minutes).
