LUNCH AT THE FOSTONS ASH ON SUNDAY 27TH OCTOBER 2013

Little did we realise when we booked the Fostons Ash for Sunday lunch on the 27th October that we would have so many interested Members.  A table was booked for 25 which was 2 more than was on the list, but at the meeting at the beginning of October 6 more signed up making a total of 29.    When we advised the Manager of Fostons that there would be 29 of us he said that the maximum he could take was 25 in one party and no amount of sweet taking could make him change his mind.  He did suggest that with such a large party we could try one of the other public houses in their chain, but Fostons Ash was by far the best location for everyone and a much nicer atmosphere than the others, so it looked as though 4 of us would have to decamp elsewhere!

As Mike and Manda lived close to us we thought they were the obvious choice for dinner mates and dutifully picked them up, horror of horror,  as we were approaching the pub lo and behold a BMW Estate  being driven by Eddy was coming in the opposite direction going to collect Diana, they hadn’t booked for the meal!!!  Our only hope was that as it was such a miserable day one or two members might stay in by the fire, but no, they all dutifully turned up as the meal had been pre-booked (not pre-paid though), in fact by the time we arrived the majority were there.  I hurriedly explained the position to the Manager who very kindly booked a table for 6 at the nearby Stirrup Cup in Bisley and said he would make sure that all MG Members were looked after.   We left the pre-booked menu choice in the capable hands of Louise and promptly left with Eddy and Diana in tow for the Stirrup Cup where we had a very nice Sunday lunch.

I am hoping that next year someone will book a Sunday lunch at the Fostons Ash so that we can join them and sample the food, but make sure you keep the number to 25 maximum.
I will in future check the maximum numbers taken in one sitting so as not to miss out on my Sunday lunch.
