Lunch at the Crown, Frampton Mansell

24th November 2013

After being away for about weeks we were unsure as to whether anyone would be coming to the meal. Before we went away we only had about 3 couples booked. Luckily there was a meeting days before the meal so we were hopeful.

We had had meals as a club at the 16th century inn before so we were sure there would be a few takers. At the meeting the hands went up so we eventualy finshed up with 24 people coming. We had done a deal with the pub whereby we could have a roast and a pudding at a reduced cost. The only condition was that it had to be Crumble. Luckily, that was no problem for me as its one of my favourites. All that remained was to see whether we would all go for the crumble and save some money or go for something more exotic.

On the day the fire was up and running as we gathered. Soon the noise levels were as as we started chatting. I felt sorry for the few people who were sharing our space. It was good to see new couples attending as well as the "old hands". The only question now was whether we would all go for the crumble option after the meal

The roast itself was up to its usual standard with only one third of the attendees (including myself) forgetting what they ordered. Thank goodness I remembered the form. Everyone went for the crumble except one which prompted the phrase "Theres always one!"

After warming themselves by the fire after the meal everyone left fully replete into the cold.

Thanks to all those who attended another succesful closed season Sunday lunch
