Southampton and New Forest Run

2nd June 2013

This year we had decided to stay in the New Forest and, as luck would have it, our daughter took us to see the village of Burley. This village is famous in the area as it was the home of a white witch in the sixties. There was a lovely local pub with Rooms called the Burley Inn. So four couples set off on the Saturday for a leisurely drive down and a meal the night before. The good thing about Burley is that there are two pubs quite close so a choice of meals and drinks was on the cards.

The following day we all turned up at Copythorne, the usual start place of the run and set off after being sustained with the usual bacon butties. The trip around the Forest was really good taking in the coastal villages as well as special sites such as World War 1 and 2 airfields. Through Lymington and eventually finishing up at Breamore House. It was at this house that a lot of planning for D Day took place.

Back to hotel for another evening meal with the eight of us. The following morning it was homeward bound and Rita and I had already picked a picturesque route home via Old Waldour castle
