Richard Wards Run 26th June 2012
Our most recent run, organised by Richard and Jill saw 19 cars gather at the municipal car park just outside Tewkesbury for a 25 mile run round the northern part of the county. The run headed out over the river severn towards Ledbury but quickly turned off through Bushley where the road runs through the cricket pitch on the village green. We continued to Birtsmorton past the Mediaeval moated mansion of Birtsmorton Court. We did pass briefly over the border into Worcestershire and up across the common onto the side of the Malvern Hills. We took the narrow lanes on the Gloucestershire side of the hills until we reached the point at Whiteleaved Oak where the borders of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire meet. The route then continued down to Bromsberrowand on to Redmarley and Lowbands,This being one of the Chartist settlements. The route then took the cars back to Staunton where an evening meal had been arranged in the dining hall of The Swan.Everyone seemed to enjoy the run with some commenting that the route had taken them along roads that they never knew existed despite living only a few miles away.
