Steam Extravaganza

5th August 2012

We were all looking forward to the Steam event today but the rain was in stair rods as we woke the car up for the journey to Cirencester. There were 9 cars going which was a good turnout for the show but with thwe rain we expected a few to drop out. As the time for the rendezvous at Greasey Joes came and went we were a little apprehensive. However, we heard Rodney, Sue and Trevs Roadster, coming round the roundabout on two wheels. At least we wouldnt be alone. It had even stopped raining.

Just like the Magnificent Seven ( even though there were 9 due) we started arriving. That makes me Yul Brynner and Trev is Steve McQueen (well he could be his double anyhow). Brian came later as he couldnt get his car started so we accepted that as an excuse. Just two left to turn up. At last Tim Arrives. That left just the one, young Eddie. After last months evening run we were expecting them to be late. Still no show at 9 so it was a quick phone call.

It transpires Eddies social secretary let him down. "What, is it today?".

Off we all went and we even managed to stay in convoy. We got on site to begin the real fun with the setting up of the Gazebo. This one is much better as long as you have a tall person for middle. Still, you have to use Brian for something. All done. Off for the bacon butties.

The show itself was excellent with a broad spectrrum of interests ranging from steam engines. model planes, buses, mototbikes and much more. The site itself was huge and there were many stalls selling all sorts of goodies.

The weather held out until about half past three when all the rain in the UK came and settled on us. At least the gazebo kept us dry. One last problem Brians car refused to start again. It responded well to the jump start and that was it

Despite the rain we all had a great time and kept in the dry

Thanks to all for coming

Adrian
