ST ROSES WHEEL NUTS MOTOR SHOW

SUNDAY 29 APRIL 2012

The weather forecast all week had not been very favorable for the show on Sunday and on Friday I contacted Carol the event organiser to see what the contingency plan was should the weather been as dreadful as thought.  Carol reported that the show would go ahead with all stalls in the school and cars on the hard standing as they were not expecting the full quota of 400 exhibitors.

Sunday morning was as expected heavy rain and cold.  Trev and I arrived first parking up in a convenient spot on the hard-standing with plenty of room for other Club Members. John R and JC and Mo arrived in convoy and promptly parked is our usual allocated spot on the grass under the trees, JC had the right idea, a quick get-away should we need one.

We were quickly whisked inside by Carol to have a cup of coffee and a bacon butty, the show was not due to open to the public until 11am, 2 hours to go.  One by one other Club Members arrived making a total of 6 MGs and 1 Mazda, which was excellent in view of the weather.

We had a very sociable few hours in the refectory chatting and drinking (coffee/tea), venturing outside for a breathe of fresh air and having a look at the plant stall in the garage.  We all had a good look at  the stalls with JC picking up first prize in the tombola of a bottle of whisky, in fact I think I saw him with a another bottle of whisky before we all called it a day and went home to dry ourselves and our cars out.

A very disappointing day for the St Roses staff as we thought that only about 100 of the 400 exhibitors turned up.
