Coleford Festival of Transport 2012

April 9th 2012

It was a few years ago since we last attended as a club - 2005 in fact. We had decided that as it was such lovely weather when we went the last time we would repeat the performance. As the day drew nearer there were more and more storm clouds gathering. But, we are a hardy bunch and I knew that everyone would turn up and brave the storm. Then the phone went at 7:30 am - thats right 7:30 AM!!! Our first drop out. Still who could blame them as I looked out and saw the rain coming in stair rods.

We arrived at the rendezvous and were suprized that most were there waiting. Soon we were a complete set and off we drove into the sunset (well, rain clouds really). Upon arrival we joined a queue and had to wait for tractors. Not a new experience for most of us. We were given pride of place by the clock tower. I think it was so we could see how long we had to wait in the rain before we could go.

After parking up it was straight to the cafe for breakfast and a dry out. After breakfast we took a stroll around the exhibits trying to dodge all brollys. There were not as many entrants this year as last and the stalls were down as well. Still. never mind, we only had 6 hours to wait before we could go home

Eventually we all gravitated to the pub and after getting wet on the outsire and dry on the inside we reversed the process. Despite the rain it was still an enjoyable event and I think we all had a great time. The shops were doing a roaring trade as well
