Sunday Lunch at the Lamb Eastcombe

27th February 2011

This lunch was organised only recently and as such Rita and I had to do some research to get it right. We had know of the Lamb for many years but not had the chance to share it with our freinds. So, when we had to get a last minute substitute this was the pub we went for.

I did get a bit of stick from one of our members as they knew it was local to me. As I pointed out - it may be local but the meal is still good! We sent out the form for those attending to sign their names. We had a respectable 18 people wanting to sample what the Lamb had to offer. Unfortunately we had some illnesses and also double bookings. This bought us down to 14 people but what a crowd!

Two of our number wanted starters so the rest of us had to sit droolling while they finished. They werent embarrassed a bit. The meal itself was in the main the standard roast but everything was "real" food - not that from packets. There was more than enough veg to go around all well cooked. It was like a chesss game seeing the Mint and Apple Sauce and Horseradish being passed to and fro. Most people availed themselves from the choice of puddings. Luckily we had two pudding monitors who went and wrote everything from the board so we could all see what was what - it kept them happy!

As usual we were the loudest crowd but that just goes to show what a sociable bunch we are. All that and the views over the Toadsmoor Valley made the day special. Thanks to our friends for making another good meet
