Chris & Bet's 1st Signpost Rally - 15th August 2010

The first car arrived at the Kilkenny Viewpoint just before 10am, swiftly followed by 9 other intrepid explorers. Maps were handed out together with details of the signposts and so the day began. In all directions maps were being quickly consulted, spread over bootlids and bonnets whilst feverish calculations were made as to where and how  to get to and from.Although officially just for fun, it soon became apparent that there were a few serious competitors, anxious to get away and find all 10 signposts within the 2.5hrs available before lunch. First out of the gate was Richard, who despite a flat tyre/visit to a local garage went on to complete the full circuit. By 11.00am the car park was empty and the real fun was underway as for once there was no route card to follow!

Long before 1.00pm the ‘management’ had secured the best table outside the Harvest Home and were busy defending their positions from attack from the local wasps.

Reports came in thick and fast recounting tales of MG’s passing each other in all directions, with no information being given once the precious data had been collected, just a satisfied smile and a wave being exchanged.

Full marks to Rob & Julia for being first to complete the course with 100% pass rate on the clues. Hmm, you would have thought he had learned his lesson after Witley Court!

Lunch quickly disappeared and judging by the empty plates all  were satisfied. A passing steam train on the GWR line at the back of the pub emptied the restauraunt in record time ( I am told the viewing platform was full).
