Xmas Meal 2009

Christmas Meal 5th December 2009 at The Royal William

Thirty nine members had booked and thirty nine members turned up (to the great relief of the organiser) on a wet and windy night for the 2009 Christmas meal at The Royal William on the A46.

We had sole use of the Cranham Suite, including the private bar which was well used as the evening progressed.

All three courses consisted of good honest food and plenty of it. Service could have been a little quicker and had the organiser looked properly at his spreadsheet to see what he’d ordered and not eaten someone else’s turkey it probably would have been - sorry!

When everyone was replete we came to the most important and serious event of our year - The Christmas Raffle! The process of drawing winners and their prizes was under the direct control of The Chairman and Secretary. As usual some won more prizes than others and one member had to beg a jumbo carrier bag to take his loot back to Dursley. Over £100 was raised for club funds - thanks to everyone who donated a prize and to those who bought tickets.

Taxis began arriving as 11:30 approached to take the more affluent members home, while some were heard to declare “but I thought you were driving home dear!”
