Wickwar Brewery Visit

We all started out on this fresh October evening with high hopes of a good time. Surprise to say that when we arrived at the brewery there were cars already waiting. That made life easier as it identified who the real drinkers were! It was one of those nights where your breathe froze in the wind. As we waited outside the temperature plummetted but the anticipation rose.

Once admitted into the warmth we were greeted by a raft of pints all lined up for us. What a welcome! We were then presented with a very interesting chat about the history of the brewery which I found exceptionally interesting. The dreaded DVD was next. It turned out to be very informative and was well presented. After this we were transferred over to the "new" brewery site.

The site, which had been a brewery since the 1800s, evoked a different era. We all tugged our forlocks as we trudged past the offices and up several flights of steps to the top of the brewery. Once more we were treated to a further in depth talk about the brewing process and were able to see and taste the main ingredients as well as viewing all the equipment.

There was nothing left to do now except to taste some more different brews back across the road. It was a tough ask but the boys were up for the challenge, the ladies were driving. After a few more drinks final orders were called and there was a great sloshing sound as we all headed for the door.

It was a really informative night as well as being a great social time
