Well, the evening started well as I led off the convoy to the Gun Club. I had instructions on how to get there but as a man we dont read them! I was told to turn off just before the Pub. Maybe its years of practise but once I see the pub I dont see much else. We eventually turned round and the convoy arrived a little late. Jim Payne from the Gloucester Clay Shooting Club met us and we split into two teams. There was more testosterone on show than at a Rugby World Cup Final and that even included the girls. Lou and our new member, Yvonne, were determined to show us men up.
I was really impressed with the professional set up and the friendliness of our tutors. One thing I couldn't see was where the little men sat who threw the clays. They were well hidden in some solid brick buildings - a wise move bearing in mind we were shooting. I still cant believe it was automated.
"Let battle commence" was the cry and most of us all saying "What?" as we all had our ear plugs in. We all had different shooting positions during the evening and it was interesting to see just how quick these clays flew. Just by moving to the side the whole dynamics of the shooting changed. Still, I suppose you are all interested in the scores on the doors.
